My Cardboard Box

Under Pressure

With a nod of thanks to badanov at Rantburg‘s O-Club:

I used this version rather than the more well-known 1982 one because while the former is a bit self-congratulatory (it looks like a rehearsal for the 1992 Freddy Mercury tribute concert), the latter’s imagery seems a bit more overwrought and dated. It was done during the Reagan era, with all that it portended to the cultural elite at the time.

Other musings:

* David Bowie: Impeccably dressed and with a cigarette.

* Much as I like Annie Lennox’s work, I don’t think she pulled this off, either here in rehearsal or in the concert itself.

* George Michael singing along in the background. I wonder how it would have sounded had he been performing Freddy Mercury’s part?
