Life in the Mojave, Part 4

News of the weird:

“Douglas Jones, 57, of La Quinta was cited by Joshua Tree National Park authorities for abandoning property, littering and feeding wildlife. Jones tossed some 3,000 golf balls from his vehicle. Jones also scattered tennis balls, park literature and left fruit and vegetables along park roads. The Park spent $9000 and over 250 hours for clean-up.”

According to the news reports, Jones says he threw the golf balls to “honor deceased golfers” and left the food (in cans, according to the LA Times) for hikers.  Turns out he works at a golf course.

The ironic thing is, with winter coming he’ll probably have another 3,000 balls available  to toss.
